speciesism

Speciesism is the discrimination that thousands of millions of individuals suffer on the grounds of the species they belong to.

The most common form of speciesism is that which happens when individuals who do not belong to the human species are discriminated against. In this way, it is common for most human animals to discriminate against non-human animals simply because they do not belong to their species.

But there are also different types of speciesism depending on the species of the non-human animal in question. For instance, many people understand that dogs and cats deserve the right to life and that it is not fair to kill them in dog pounds, but they do accept and request that pigs, tuna, cows, mice, etc. are murdered in slaughterhouses, fishing ships, fish farms, laboratories, fur farms...

It is not fair to discriminate against anybody on the grounds of the species they belong to. It doesn't matter whether the individual is a human animal or not, or whether they are less or more affectionate, appealing or cute.

All animals with a nervous system, whether human or non-human, have the capacity to feel pain, fear, pleasure and so on, therefore we all want to avoid those situations which can endanger and hurt us, and we seek to find enjoyable, pleasant and beneficial situations.

All pigs, humans, mice, tuna, cows, etc. want to live in freedom without getting killed. We all want to be able to live with our family and to not have our freedom taken from us (regardless of whether the prisons are called farms, cages, zoos, aquaria, terrarria and so on).

Nobody wants to be murdered, whether the crime is committed in the street or in a slaughterhouse, in a fishing boat or in a laboratory or fur farm.

All animals, whether human or not, don't care whether the purpose for murdering us is to have our dead body eaten, cut up into pieces, or to be skinned, or to be used as a lab tool (as though we were a test tube or a note pad).
