what is defensanimal.org?

Defensanimal.org is an NGO that defends the interests of every non-human animal (regardless of the species they belong to). That is why it demands the abolition of any speciesist activity or attitude, and informs of the only way of life which is coherent with true animal rights: veganism (the non-use of non-human animals on a daily basis).

This organisation aims to inform of the injustice of being speciesist (to discriminate against anyone on the basis of their species), since all animals with a nervous system (human or non-human) have the capacity of feeling (pain, pleasure, etc.) and thus, our interests should be respected regardless of the species we belong to (in the same way as it is not justified to discriminate on the grounds of race or gender).

Defensanimal.org does not ask for regulations or improvements to the conditions in which non-human animals are treated when they are used, but directly demands the abolition of any speciesist activity or attitude.

Defensanimal.org promotes veganism (the non-use of non-human animals); this means food that is 100% vegetarian (striving not to consume animal products of any kind), the use of clothes and accessories that are free of leather, fur, wool or silk, the use of products not tested or experimented on non-human animals, non-attendance to prisons for non-human animals known as zoos or aquaria, non-attendance to or participation on shows or activities where non-human animals are enslaved (activities using horses, circuses that use non-human animals, popular celebrations that promote entertainment at the expense of other animals), and so on.

Defensanimal.org carries out activities such as conferences, videoforums, vegan cooking workshops (100% vegetarian), gatherings, participation in the media, the monthly radio programme 'El Rincón Vegano' (The Vegan Corner) etc, and of course, its website www.defensanimal.org is a window of information aiming at the cease of all speciesism by giving detailed information on why and how to do it.
